    Garment History

    The chino was first created for American armed forces in the late 1800s, when they required a durable cotton twill trouser. Its current iteration, the modern flat-front, was developed for American forces during World War Two. The chino gained popularity at war's end when surplus military stock flooded the American market and it was adopted as a cheap ‘uniform’ by university students, particularly at East Coast Ivy League colleges.

Cotton is hyporallergenic meaning it is gentle on skin and is non-irritative while its moisture-wicking properties allows your skin to 'breathe' and keep its cool. The fibres in our McQueen Chinos are long staple diamond fibres which are extra soft, extra-long and spun into 'core-spun' yarns. The result is an absolute workhorse of a chino: highly durable, hard-wearing, and resistant to fading.
