Our new Alpine-Active ski collection puts Merino wool where it belongs - at the top of the mountain.
It was arguably inevitable. The long-held passion our founder, Matt Jensen, has for natural fibres, tech-wear and skiing has combined to become the M.J. Bale Alpine-Active collection: ski parkas and pants made with an outer shell of Merino wool, as well as base layers, gilets, fleeces and knits that perform at altitude and read beautifully at après.
The pro-level ski parkas and pants start with fleece from Lake Hāwea Station - a high-country farm on the edge of New Zealand's Southern Alps. The elastic, all-natural fibre then travels to Reda in Biella, northern Italy, where it's woven into Natural Tech fabric. From there, JAAM Italia - the Trentino-based company that makes official mountain gear for Italy’s national ski instructors - cuts it into parkas and pants with precision.
The result is a radical range of legitimately high-performance garments made of natural fibres, with a clear provenance.
