We're chuffed to open our new Melbourne flagship store at St. Collins Place, our sartorial celebration of all things dapper and dressed-up.
M.J. Bale is proud to announce the opening of our new Melbourne flagship ‘man cave’ in St Collins Lane. The store is the second installment of our new and updated retail design concept (seen previously in our Martin Place store, Sydney) that mixes M.J. Bale’s tailoring heritage with a new contemporary outlook. The store will incorporate all of M.J. Bale’s greatest hits, including a ‘tailoring den’ housing some of our most razor sharp sartorial offerings, such as the brand’s top-end Custom and Made-to-Measure services.
Designed by interior architect Mandy Edge of Edge Design Studio, our St Collins Lane Melbourne flagship is divided into two distinct sub-spaces: the MJB casualwear section, marked by exposed brick, lighter aged timber and bright, wall-to-wall garments, and the more traditional sartorial area, distinguished by rich ebonite and aged timber joinery & smart herringbone floors.
For those wanting expertise with regards to woolen suiting garments, our St Collins store Custom specialist and assistant manager, Kane Griffiths, is there to take custom fittings. Having grown up on the land the son of a shearer, Kane, a teenage ‘rouseabout’ says he was “exposed to wool before I could walk.”
“My experiences in some of the harshest working conditions taught me about the benefits and resilience of wool,” he says. “Through the middle of summer, sheep could have 12 months worth of wool on their back and be perfectly comfortable, or in the middle of winter be just as cosy when temperatures drop below zero.”
