Fibre Source

Founded in 1663 in the foothills of Italy's Piedmont Alps, Vitale Barberis Canonico (VBC) is the world's oldest wool mill still in operation, family-owned for 15 generations and recognised as one of Europe's most sustainable and traceable textile manufacturers. M.J. Bale has partnered with VBC for over a decade to create single-source wool cloths using Merino exclusively grown at the conservationist Kingston farm in Tasmania – a bespoke collaboration VBC has with no other brand globally. These M.J. Bale Kingston fabrics are defined by exceptional softness, complete traceability, and refined Italian character. VBC also milled M.J. Bale's world-first methane-reduced wool from seaweed-fed sheep at Kingston farm into Super 150s cloth, which was then tailored into blazers in Mantua, Italy - proof that innovation and tradition can coexist.
