Fibre Source

Founded by Ermenegildo Zegna in 1910, Lanificio Zegna remains one of the world's most prestigious textile mills. Located in Trivero in Italy's Biella Alps - a region renowned for wool production since the medieval era - the mill produces millions of metres of premium fabric annually, supplying the world's finest tailors and luxury brands. The Alpine mineral-rich water streaming down from the mountains provides ideal conditions for washing and dyeing, lending Zegna fabrics their distinctive hand and depth of colour. Still family-run after five generations, Lanificio Zegna combines centuries-old expertise with continuous innovation, sourcing the world's finest natural fibres to create cloths defined by anima (soul) and integrita (integrity).

Weaving

The Sarto is made from 100% mulberry silk twill, a cloth finished with a soft peach hand that delivers unbelievable natural sheen and fluid drape. The jacket will wear beautifully, move effortlessly, and endure if cared for properly (literally, treat the Sarto like ‘silkworms’). Dry clean only. Silk is delicate and requires professional cleaning to preserve the fabric and tailored construction. At home, store on a wooden or padded hanger in a breathable cotton garment bag (never plastic) in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Air the jacket after wearing and ensure it's clean before long-term storage to prevent moth damage
