The Merino wool used in this garment includes wool grown at the climate-positive Lake Hāwea Station (LHS) in New Zealand's Southern Alps. LHS is a 6,500-hectare regenerative farm. It is the world's first B Corp-certified sheep farm and Australasia's first certified carbon zero farm - currently sequestering 2.5 times more carbon than it emits. It is also home to threatened native falcons and the last known wild population of Western Grand skinks. At elevations above 1,500 metres, LHS Merino sheep roam high-altitude backcountry - grazing tussock grass, snow daisies, and lichen across some of the most demanding terrain on earth. That environment produces an ultra-fine 16–18 micron clip: exceptionally soft against the skin, naturally breathable, and moisture-wicking in all conditions. A percentage of every M.J. Bale x LHS sale returns directly to Lake Hāwea Station for biodiversity preservation, making this garment not just traceable to its source, but actively invested in protecting it.
