Provenance
CREATE
The importance of provenance, authenticity and the
integrity of high-quality raw materials run deep through the heart of M.J. Bale.
Intense textile research and an obsession with functional design, comfort, performance and fit means each of our garments is engineered to perform.
Fabrications are selected for their integrity (yarn, density, weight and finishing), drape and softness.
CAPTURE
Our philosophy is to seek out the world's best producers
of superior raw materials, in our case Australia (where our Merino sheep live), China (where our silk worms reside) and Egypt and America (where our long-staple cotton grows). Our hand-selected exclusive superfine fleeces are grown in New South Wales,
the home of M.J. Bale founder, Matt Jensen, before being woven in centuries-old mills, such as those in the famed Biella region of Northern Italy.
CUT
M.J. Bale's design philosophy explores the delicate balance between aesthetic (form) and function
- a pre-requisite for masculine garments required to manage the forces of nature.
The M.J. Bale 'cut' is a result of founder Matt Jensen's careful study of silhouette, fabrication and garment construction.
CONSTRUCT
Taking an approach of "no shortcuts; no compromises",
M.J. Bale's sartorial workshops in Italy, Pakistan and Japan apply the time-honoured techniques
that enable a garment to last the test of time. Features include: sewn-in canvases and interlining, hand-sewn seams and hand-fastened buttons.
Fabrications are combined with specific construction techniques for optimal garment performance.
