Kingston Farm

Northern Midlands, Tasmania

Kingston is one of Australia’s leading Merino wool farms, having been in the custodial hands of the Cameron family for almost 120 years. Its superfine wool is regularly rated 1pp from the Australian Wool Exchange, recognised as “the pinnacle of superfine wool growing excellence.” SustainWOOL-certified for its sustainability efforts and animal welfare practises, Kingston has also been independently accredited as a carbon positive enterprise. It is home to many threatened flora and fauna, including breeding wedge-tailed eagles, platypus and rare orchid species.

M.J. Bale is proud to have been a partner with Simon Cameron and the farm since 2015 on single-source Tasmanian Merino wool suits, tuxedos, blazers and ties. The wool is woven by centuries-old Italian weaver Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, Italy. Kingston is also M.J. Bale’s partner in our world-first methane-reduced wool trials. A percentage of every M.J. Bale Kingston sale is returned to the farm to be reinvested into biodiversity preservation and land generation projects.

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE LEADER

Conservationist Enterprise

Kingston is home to 8% of all remaining Indigenous grasslands and countless threatened flora & fauna. M.J. Bale-funded projects include the large scale replanting of trees and shrubs and river soil erosion mitigation.

FIBRE OF THE GODS

Ashby Farm

Ashby farm is located near the town of Ross in the Tasmanian Midlands and is considered one of the country’s best producers of extrafine Merino wool. Owned by the fifth generation Bennett family, the farm is managed by husband and wife team, Will and Nina. M.J. Bale has been producing fine gauge single-source Tasmanian Merino wool knits – crew necks, V-necks, turtlenecks, long sleeve polos and cardigans – made only from Ashby wool since 2018.
